Message Boards, a fun new trend!

That’s right! Let’s talk “messages”! It seems like everywhere you look, somebody has put some sort of quote on something!! You can’t walk through Hobby Lobby without reading most of the New Testament and feeling like you’ve been to a motivational speech! There’s absolutely NOTHING wrong with that, it’s just not really my jam. I love things that inspire me and I can’t ever get enough of the Word of God, I just am not one to hang either on my walls. If that’s your thing…that’s what you love… surround yourself sister! I think it’s great!

Your life is your message to the world, make it INSPIRING!

What I DO love… is a message board!! Any type! One place in your home that is changing… constantly! I LOVE change. I know, that’s probably weird, but I do! Growing up I would take apart my Barbie house and rebuild it, rearrange my room at midnight, cut bangs, make something out of nothing. You name it, if it could be changed, I was on it!

As an adult I’ve had to reel some of that crazy in a little. I’m not sure exactly what it is… maybe my ADD… maybe my creative spirit… probably a little of both. Anyway, I think my need for change is why I love having a message board in my home!

Brown paper roll:

At our house, we have a brown paper roll where we express ourselves. By “ourselves” I mean the whole family, we have all written on it and/or drawn a picture or two over the last year we’ve had it. The kids got to decorate it in August to celebrate mine and Adam’s birthdays, Adam decorated it for Mardi Gras (it was awful). *Love you babe* And I keep up with it for the most part and try to update it as the seasons and events change. It’s fun for me and gives me a quick creative outlet that’s also meaningful.

Fall y’all!

As you can see from the pics, sometimes I kept it simple and sometimes I am a little more creative. I never force it, I do it when I feel like it! If you stress over changing your message board, it’s not for you! Nothing is beautiful if it doesn’t bring you joy!

Letter board:

Letter message boards are fantastically popular right now. I personally think they’re adorable! I’ve used them on occasion and loved how they’ve turned out! This is a great option if you’re not a particularly creative person, or if the thought of being creative is stressful for you, remember that’s NOT what this is about! You can be meaningful, quirky, funny or practical! (see these) This is a great option to add a personal touch to your space and keep it simple!

On the bookshelf in our family room, I’ve never changed this one.

Chalkboard:

Y’all… this amazes me! Chalkboard artists are so inspiring! I am not one, nor do I aspire to be… but man! The way chalk has to be layered and manipulated is so complicated, it takes someone with serious talent to work with a medium like chalk! The closest I get to chalkboard art is a small chalkboard tent sign I use outside for all of our parties. I use a chalk pen and I keep it simple sister!

This is about as fancy as I get!
