To incorporate fall art in your home, purchasing original, one-of-a-kind pieces from a local artist is ideal, but often a seasonal budget may not allow for that. In that case, I recommend getting a print. Prints still capture the original beauty of a piece while supporting an individual artist. Some artists even embellish their prints to make them feel more original. This option is much more affordable than investing in a unique piece. You can order them printed and/or framed, but some prints can even be ordered as a digital download. Hello convenience! If you go the downloadable route, I recommend you have it printed with a high-quality printer through a print shop to get the best finished look. If you’re looking for a few ways to make your dreams of fall art into a reality, I rounded up some of my favorite fall prints here!

Remember, displaying things that set the tone for fall doesn’t have to be complicated. It can be as simple as swapping out family photos to display pumpkin patch memories or moments you captured last year trick-or-treating with friends. Simply displaying past fall memories is fun and will warm your heart just as much as, (if not more), than a cozy fall painting or print. • Curl snakes randomly around grapevine wreath
• Wire snakes onto wreath in a few places with floral wire

Basically, you crush up your extra fun-sized candy bars and use them to make the most delicious cookies. I use my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe, but any one will work. You replace the chocolate chips with the crushed candy, and voila!

1. Unwrap, and refrigerate the candy for an hour.
2. Make your dough as per the recipe.
3. Crush the candy bars using a food processor or chop by hand.
4. Add to your dough (use the same measure as the chocolate chips in the recipe)
5. Mix carefully with a spatula.
6. Bake as per recipe.
7. Enjoy!

I love to make several batches and freeze the dough for Christmas movie nights, holiday cookie swaps or just a fun dessert for the kids!

There is absolutely no reason to go out of control and overboard for kids to love your snack. I have learned less is more when it comes to preparing gifts and snacks for kids. They don’t appreciate the tiny little details that you work so hard to perfect. I have noticed that all that matters is the first impression, and the way it tastes! So as always… keep it simple! I have three favorite treats that we prepare in our house for Halloween and you guessed it… they’re simple!

1. Halloween Bark

This has been a favorite of ours for a long time. It’s easy, festive and delicious!!

Ingredients:

• White chocolate almond bark
• Candy corn
• Halloween Oreos
• Candy eyes
• Halloween sprinkles
• Pretzels

You’ll need: a microwave, gallon ziploc bags, wax paper & a cookie sheet

1. Melt the almond bark in the microwave 1 minute at a time and stir between heatings. Usually takes 2-3 1-minute heatings.

2. While you’re heating the bark, crush about 15 Oreos in a bag, leaving a few larger pieces.

3. Crush about 1 cup of pretzels the same way in a separate bag.

4. Pour the crushed pretzels and cookies onto the wax lined cookie sheet. Add a couple of handfuls of candy corn, some eyeballs and some sprinkles.

5. Once the bark is melted and smooth, pour onto the crushed cookies and pretzels. Fold with a rubber spatula or wooden spoon until coated with chocolate. Smooth out on wax paper.

6. Sprinkle a small handful of candy corn, sprinkles and eyeballs on top to finish it off.

7. Lay the pan in a cool place and let it harden for an hour or so.

8. Using a knife, strategically cut into pieces. Serve and enjoy, or wrap up to give!

2. Halloween Brownie Cupcakes

Ingredients:

• White cake mix + all ingredients listed on box
• Brownie mix + all ingredients listed on box
• Red & yellow food coloring
• Halloween sprinkles/eyeballs
• Icing of your choice
• Cooking spray

You’ll need: cupcake pan, oven (Preheated as per white cake box), cupcake liners, icing bag & tip

1. Make the white cake batter as per the box instructions and add 10 drops red and 10 drops of yellow food coloring to start. Mix well. Continue to add drops until desired orange is achieved. Set aside.

2. Make brownie batter in a separate bowl as per box instructions. Set aside.

3. Place the liners in the cupcake tin. Spray the inside of the cupcake liners with cooking spray.

4. Pour the brownie batter into the bottom of the cupcake, filling it 1/3 full.

5. Pour orange cake mix carefully on top of the brownie batter to fill to 2/3 full.

6. Bake as per the white cake box’s instructions.

7. When the cupcakes are done, let them completely cool before icing them.

8. Use the icing bag and tip to create a beautiful cupcake top!

Tip: if you don’t have an icing bag and tip, use a gallon ziploc, snip the corner and gently squeeze. It will give you a nice, clean icing top to your cupcake.

Tip 2: Use a cup or glass to help fill an icing bag. It makes so much sense!

9. Add sprinkles and eyeballs to finish the look!! Enjoy!

3. Halloween Pretzel Candy

A friend of mine introduced these candies to me a few years ago and I never looked back! I literally make a variation of them for every holiday!

Ingredients:

• Hugs Hershey’s kisses (also good with Rolos)
• small pretzels (butter snaps work well)
• Candy corn

You’ll need: an oven, wax lined cookie sheet

1. Unwrap the chocolates. (Rolos or kisses) This is the most time consuming part!

2. Lay the pretzels out in a single layer on the wax lined cookie sheet.

3. Place one chocolate candy (kisses or Rolo) on top of each pretzel.

4. Bake on 350 degrees for 3 minutes.

5. Remove from the oven and immediately start placing the candy corn by gently flattening the melted candy. Place one candy corn on each chocolate piece.

6. Let them cool before trying to remove them from the cookie sheet. Refrigerate (only candy made with kisses, do not refrigerate Rolos) for only an hour to speed up hardening process.

7. Once the chocolate has hardened, you can stack them or bag them up. Enjoy!

If you’re not feeling adventurous at all and wanting something suuuuuper simple, or maybe you’re last minute this year (no judgement here, trust me!) I’ve included two “throw together” snack ideas that are even simpler than our favs!

Halloween Party Mix:

Ingredients:

• Bugles
• Candy corn/harvest mix
• Salted peanuts
• M&M’s
• Pretzels (mini twists)
• caramel corn

Eyeball Chocolate Chip Cookies:

Ingredients:

• Chocolate chip cookie dough (any kind)
• Candy eyeballs

Bake the chocolate chip cookies as per package instructions. Carefully add a few eyeballs on each cookie by gently pressing into the cookie immediately after removing them from the oven. Let cool and enjoy! Check out the full recipe from @joannstores here.

I did what anyone would do, I pulled up Pinterest for ideas. Let me tell you, there are plenty of ideas to boo your neighbors! Who knew?!

Most everything I came across included tubs of candy and Halloween trinkets, which are great for a neighbor with a house full of kids, I guess. I wanted to go a little different direction. Surprise surprise, right?

I decided, since we don’t have many neighbors with young children, I would design our boo gift with adults in mind. The kids get plenty of goodies on Halloween night anyway!

Penelope (4) and I had a blast picking out fun Halloween items at Target! We found some great things. Just because you are working with a small budget, doesn’t mean you have to skimp. It also doesn’t mean you should buy 15, $1 items. ‘Inexpensive’ and ‘cheap’ are two completely different things. Take your time, put thought into it and don’t settle until you find what feels right. These are good things to keep in mind any time you’re buying a gift.

I set a budget of $15. $10 wasn’t enough and $20 seemed like too much. I decided to boo 2 neighbors. I spent just under $33 total and that included a roll of wrapping paper that I’ll have leftover and can use another time. Technically I stayed within budget!

We decided to forgo the popular style of using a Halloween bucket, and opted to use black and white wrapping paper with orange ribbon.

When you boo your neighbors, the point of the game is to start a chain reaction. You’ll want to include the “We’ve been BOOed!” Sign for the window or door. This also tells your neighbors how to keep the ‘booing’ going! Download them and print them in color or black & white.

We packed our items neatly in a box, wrapped it up and added a few finishing touches, including a “spooky ghost” balloon!

This was when it got fun! Knocking & running was P’s favorite part!

We had a blast booing our neighbors and I know they loved getting a little Halloween treat! Take some time out of your busy day to enjoy this season with your neighbors. Just as in any season, I like to make some small, subtle decor changes to our home. Over-the-top seasonal decorations aren’t practical for us for a lot of reasons… time, energy, budget… we don’t have an abundance of any of those! So I keep it simple!

I’m going to share with you 3 simple fall decorating ideas that you can easily incorporate today! Most of these apply to all seasons, but I’ll share our fall ideas for now!

1. Display fall themed kid’s art!

I keep all of my kid’s artwork with the decorations for that season. So for example, all of this artwork was stored in a 2-gallon ziploc bag, in the storage tote with my fall decor. That way, I won’t forget about it when it comes time to put it out.

I used twine and clothes pins, found a spot in our sitting room that made sense, and voila! It is so special for the kiddos to see their work on display, plus it adds a ton of color and is a conversation piece when people visit.

2. Plush decor that is ok to touch!

I try to incorporate “playable” decor for each season (I’ll share each holiday idea throughout the year). For fall I put these plush pumpkins on our main coffee table. My girls absolutely love playing with them. Penelope (4) lines them up and feeds them to her ponies, while Daisy (1) throws them and fetches them herself… over and over! They know they are there to play with and it encourages them to use their imaginations.

Having “playable” decor is essential to a home that everyone enjoys. It gives the kids freedom, keeps you (mom) from having to move things out of reach and/or fussing and saying “no, don’t touch that… that’s not a toy”! With plush decor it IS a toy, but looks fabulous too! I found the large pumpkin at Homegoods last year and the small ones in the dollar section at Target!

3. “Thankful” craft!

Every year we try to create something with the kiddos to provoke a “thankful” mindset going into the holiday season. A few years ago we created this on a live pumpkin. If we do this again, I would do it on a faux pumpkin. I have found I like to keep our project from year to year to reflect back on what we were thankful for.

Last year, we weren’t very imaginative. We had a new baby, and we did what worked! I bought this as a kit in the dollar section at Target and it turned out adorable! I displayed it all season last year and have it out this year too!

This fall, we are going to make our own tree! I got this idea from simply vintage girl and can’t wait to try it. I have it pinned on Pinterest too. Go follow Bloomcreativeco on Pinterest for this and lots of other ideas I’m dying to try!

For this look you’ll need:

• branches
• vase
• fall scrapbook paper
• 1 1/2″ – 2 1/2″ hole punch
• standard hole punch
• thin ribbon or twine
• scissors
• ribbon for vase

This seems pretty simple! I’ll blog about ours once we get to it! I usually start our “thankful” project November 1st!
