<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Most of my project ideas come to me when I&#8217;m cleaning and straightening up. I think spending time in my space always shows me what it&#8217;s missing. In this case, our kitchen was begging for a memory pin board to display all the things that have been piling up. I don&#8217;t keep everything that the kids make, trust me, but anything that has their prints, is original art (not a color sheet) or obviously took lots of effort, gets put in a box in my office. I have a small display-shutter in the laundry room, but the older the kids get, the more interesting their work is, and I wanted to share it with any and every one that visits. </p>

<blockquote class="wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow"><p><em>Like any small business, Bloom Co. earns money when you shop here. Using my affiliate links adds no cost to you. Thank you for your support!</em></p><cite><em>Jamie Gremillion, Bloom Co.</em></cite></blockquote>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The idea for a pin board was literally born in my head, and I talked it out with Adam. He thought a piece of <a href="https://rstyle.me/+nKSIJieQyt0rLYMaz0vI7w">foam board</a> from the hardware store would work, and he was right! We wanted it to be dramatic and eye-catching, so we went with a 2&#8243; thick sheet. <strong>(Step 1)</strong> We cut a <a href="https://rstyle.me/+nKSIJieQyt0rLYMaz0vI7w">4&#8217;x8&#8242; foamboard</a> down to 32&#8243;x6&#8242; with an <a href="https://rstyle.me/+j8A2tSpJYHCisevei1x94A">adjustable razor knife</a>. It was the perfect scale for our space. I loved the idea of it being sort of &#8220;larger than life&#8221; and not just another &#8220;something&#8221; on the wall. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex">
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" data-id="10332" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4012.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-10332"/></figure>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" data-id="10334" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4011.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-10334"/></figure>
</figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Once we got started, the process was super easy and took less than an hour, start to finish! After the foam was cut, (I recommend doing it outside, foam gets messy!) I started to cover it with the <a href="https://rstyle.me/+gPkvzGd1FY3rW8LCsvJk3g">duck canvas</a> I chose as the fabric. <a href="https://rstyle.me/+i0ZMYiAdQT0pXBFBi3bwJg">Pinking shears</a> work great to keep the raw edges from fraying. I used <a href="https://rstyle.me/+gPkvzGd1FY3rW8LCsvJk3g">white canvas</a> to give a monochromatic look with my walls, but you can choose any color you like. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">There will likely be deep creases in your fabric, <strong>(Step 2)</strong> so I recommend <a href="https://rstyle.me/+dpsQ1vdwV978Umfx39ZlTQ">steaming</a> it first, before wrapping your foam. I didn&#8217;t do that and was stuck trying to gently steam the wrinkles out without melting the foamboard, it would&#8217;ve been easier to do it ahead. Also, don&#8217;t skip this step! Promise? You&#8217;ll be tempted to, thinking your fabric will pull tight enough, but you&#8217;ll still see the wrinkles and it will look less chic, and more diy, which we don&#8217;t want. Trust me.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-2 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex">
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="1170" height="2532" data-id="10329" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4039.jpg?resize=1170%2C2532&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-10329" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4039.jpg?w=1170&amp;ssl=1 1170w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4039.jpg?resize=139%2C300&amp;ssl=1 139w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4039.jpg?resize=473%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 473w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4039.jpg?resize=768%2C1662&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4039.jpg?resize=710%2C1536&amp;ssl=1 710w" sizes="(max-width: 1170px) 100vw, 1170px" /></figure>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" width="1170" height="2058" data-id="10327" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4041.jpg?resize=1170%2C2058&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-10327" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4041.jpg?w=1170&amp;ssl=1 1170w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4041.jpg?resize=171%2C300&amp;ssl=1 171w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4041.jpg?resize=582%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 582w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4041.jpg?resize=768%2C1351&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4041.jpg?resize=873%2C1536&amp;ssl=1 873w" sizes="(max-width: 1170px) 100vw, 1170px" /></figure>
</figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>(Step 3)</strong> Once the<a href="https://rstyle.me/+gPkvzGd1FY3rW8LCsvJk3g"> duck canvas</a> is smooth, I wrapped the foam with it and secured it using my <a href="https://rstyle.me/+t_VEeQEJmHNVQBIaQpyitA">glue gun and hot glue</a> on the back edge. The hot glue does compromise the foam and melts it a little, but still holds the fabric really well. You can add some <a href="https://rstyle.me/+1tokji53aLddMAsylqJwUg">regular thumb tacks</a> along the back if you want to be sure the fabric is secure. <strong>(Step 4)</strong> Neatly fold the corners like a package and hot glue them down. </p>

</figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>(Step 5) </strong>Mark off where you&#8217;ll put each <a href="https://rstyle.me/+5wOjobKzP4_oIUxqVEwYeg">decorative thumbtack</a> on the edges using a light pencil mark. I placed mine 6&#8243; apart which worked well with a 6-foot board. Gently insert tacks keeping them centered in the middle of the 2&#8243; end. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4037.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-10336"/></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>(Step 6)</strong> Now comes the fun part! Dig out all those beautiful keepsakes and artwork pieces you&#8217;ve been holding onto and start pinning. I used <a href="https://rstyle.me/+og6VTaZH7vjn9G4JRnvBUw">simple wood tacks</a> to keep them secure. The warmth this project has added to our kitchen is amazing! We plan to use it mostly to display current treasures, but I also have a few other ideas too!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The landing at the top of the stairs has been cluttered, unorganized and used as a “catch all” since the day we moved in! We’ve used it as toy storage, movie night spot, a workout room, and everything in between. Now that we have a new<a href="http://shebloomscreative.com/tv-room-makeover">, amazing space </a>dedicated to movie nights and video games… it was time to address the mess of the playroom loft! </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/img_9497.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-9984"/></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">We originally thought about adding wallpaper, but really couldn’t find any that worked with our budget. After scrolling Pinterest looking for inspiration, I remembered a post by <a href="https://www.roomfortuesday.com/design-discussion-color-blocking/">&#8220;Room for Tuesday&#8221;</a> (a blogger) I had seen a few years ago. I knew it was the look I wanted! After revisiting the post, I was officially hooked on the color-block idea for our playroom loft. Because the room has a unique ceiling that creates a visual seam, I decided it would be a perfect space to recreate the look I loved so much! </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="684" height="1024" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Color-Blocked-Hallway-with-Neutral-Colors.webp?resize=684%2C1024&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-9990" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Color-Blocked-Hallway-with-Neutral-Colors.webp?resize=684%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 684w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Color-Blocked-Hallway-with-Neutral-Colors.webp?resize=200%2C300&amp;ssl=1 200w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Color-Blocked-Hallway-with-Neutral-Colors.webp?resize=768%2C1150&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Color-Blocked-Hallway-with-Neutral-Colors.webp?w=1000&amp;ssl=1 1000w" sizes="(max-width: 684px) 100vw, 684px" /><figcaption>Photo by Room for Tuesday</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I’ve done a bit of precision painting in the past, but I knew it would be a challenge to get this one right. I used Sherwin Williams “Alabaster” on top and “Amazing Gray” on the bottom. It ended up being the perfect blend of neutrals and gave the modern lines of color-blocking, a softer, more timeless look. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you’re wanting to try your hand at precision painting, I shared all the details and tips for how to achieve a perfectly straight line in this <a href="https://www.instagram.com/stories/highlights/18044001238325320/">Instagram Story Highlight</a>. Prepping your space using quality materials is absolutely the key to getting perfect blocking. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Once the walls were painted and the built-ins were sprayed, it was time to start planning the style features. I knew I wanted to play off of the wood tone in the existing banister, but also wanted to keep things neutral. I chose this beautiful <a href="https://amzn.to/3O08Afr">woven light fixture</a> to replace the ceiling fan. I love the texture it brings to the space, plus it feels whimsical and fun. It&#8217;s very budget-friendly and would look great in a lot of different areas in a home. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/img_0463.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-9998"/></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Choosing the wall color and the light fixture satisfied the &#8220;impact&#8221; pieces for the playroom loft. These are elements I like to choose first in a space, elements that will make the biggest impact. After those selections are made, other accents fall into place.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/img_0472.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-9996"/></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">When choosing how to style the walls in this particular space, I had a few ideas but didn&#8217;t want to take away from the color-blocking either, so I narrowed it down to two larger scale wall elements. I created a <a href="https://www.instagram.com/stories/highlights/17956710742628974/">gallery wall</a> on one end of the room and used acrylic shelving to add an art display to the other. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-6 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex">
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" data-id="10003" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/img_0454.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-10003"/></figure>
</figure>

<figure class="wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-7 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex">
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" data-id="9994" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/img_0469.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-9994"/><figcaption>If you&#8217;re wanting to create a similar look, check out all my tips for a random gallery wall <a href="https://www.instagram.com/stories/highlights/17956710742628974/">here</a>.</figcaption></figure>
</figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">On a smaller wall in the room, I rehung a piece of playful art I&#8217;ve had since we first moved in 4 years ago. Before this house we had never had a playroom before, and I purchased this adorable sign when I was still dreaming of having a beautiful space to hang it in. In fact, I was inspired by the frame and colors in this piece when I chose the color palette for the rest of the room. It&#8217;s one of my favorites!</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/img_0466.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-9993"/></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Let&#8217;s talk about acrylic. I love it&#8230; in moderation. When I was trying to think of a modern way to display the kid&#8217;s art, I came up with the idea to use nail polish shelves! That&#8217;s right, did they look familiar? Turns out, they&#8217;re the perfect depth to hold a canvas! I ordered <a href="https://amzn.to/3uook46">these</a> as a set and I&#8217;m so pleased with how they turned out. We worked hard to leave our mark on these canvases, so I&#8217;m happy with how beautifully they&#8217;re displayed. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/img_0465.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-10000"/></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In addition to the shelves, I also chose an<a href="https://amzn.to/3riWzIb"> acrylic chair </a>to accent the built-in desk. I love how petite it is. The thing about acrylic is, it&#8217;s useful and functional without being visually weighted. I liked the idea of the space feeling open and airy, plus we added a beautiful new <a href="https://amzn.to/3vrd3PZ">gold pull</a> to the oversized desk drawer. Who would want to hide that with a chair?!</p>

<figure class="wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-8 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex">
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" data-id="10004" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/img_0458.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-10004"/></figure>

</figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The organization in the space was obviously a huge detail to consider. I went with <a href="https://liketk.it/3C5vf">easy, affordable storage from Target</a>. I love mixing wood tones with other natural elements like basket weave and woven cotton. Accenting with a metal is always a good idea, and small, gold accents were a perfect touch to this room. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-9 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex">
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" data-id="10006" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/img_0451.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-10006"/></figure>

</figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Overall, this project took longer than expected because of item availability and weather, but it was worth the wait. Sometimes there are things out of your control when you&#8217;re working on a space, and that&#8217;s ok. Design takes time! </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/img_9617.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-9985"/></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Once we dove into our most recent room makeover, <a href="http://shebloomscreative.com/tv-room-reveal">the TV room</a>, I knew exactly what I wanted on the big blank wall adjacent to the TVs. I had seen people create and share photo posters before, and there are lots of ways they can be done, but I hadn’t created any myself.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I knew I wanted to keep them very affordable, but I also wanted the photo quality to be excellent. No sense in having photos on the wall if they’re a blurry mess! As you know, sometimes when photos get enlarged too much, they end up looking computer-generated. I was really trying to avoid that problem, but also keep the cost down. I found that Office Depot’s photo prints were affordable and had great reviews, so that’s the route I took. I decided to take my own photos and have Office Depot print them. </p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading" id="taking-the-photos">Taking the photos:</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I set my phone up on a <a href="https://amzn.to/3ATjoWo">tripod</a> so that the lighting and angle would be the same for each photo. I used a white wall in my office as the background and had each of the kids stand on a piece of tape. They took turns getting into frame and acting silly! I took around 10 photos of each of them so I would have a few to choose from. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Once I decided on my favorite photos, I edited them using the <a href="https://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom.html">Lightroom app</a> on my phone. I used the preset “B&amp;W Low Contrast” and didn’t have to do any cropping at all since I used a tripod, this is key. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-10 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex">
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" data-id="9751" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/img_8993.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-9751"/></figure>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" data-id="9750" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/img_9045.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-9750"/></figure>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" data-id="9753" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/img_9030.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-9753"/></figure>

</figure>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading" id="ordering-prints">Ordering Prints</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">On<a href="http://officedepot.com"> officedepot.com</a> you can easily upload your photos and select the size. I had mine printed as 24” x 18” because it was a good fit for the wall I chose. I chose “55 lb. matte” paper. Prints with these specifics ended up being $19.99 each and shipped in about a week. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="539" height="1024" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/img_9407.jpg?resize=539%2C1024&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-9755" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/img_9407.jpg?resize=539%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 539w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/img_9407.jpg?resize=158%2C300&amp;ssl=1 158w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/img_9407.jpg?resize=768%2C1460&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/img_9407.jpg?resize=808%2C1536&amp;ssl=1 808w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/img_9407.jpg?resize=1077%2C2048&amp;ssl=1 1077w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/img_9407.jpg?w=1170&amp;ssl=1 1170w" sizes="(max-width: 539px) 100vw, 539px" /></figure>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading" id="framing-the-photo-posters">Framing the Photo Posters</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Originally, I had ordered a pack of 6 poster frames from Amazon, but when they came in they were sooooo cheap and flimsy I returned them. I ended up happy with <a href="https://rstyle.me/+1W3nc7TK8ZNpm-zoXsv7dQ">these frames from Target</a>. The quality is good for the price, they’re plexiglass, lightweight and great for kids’ spaces. </p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading" id="hanging-the-photo-posters">Hanging the Photo Posters</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Obviously, you’ll need to measure your space BEFORE printing and framing your posters, but there are a few tips I can offer for hanging. I like to leave 3-4 inches between art on all sides, with a 6 inch+ offset from the corner/edge of the wall on either side. These rules can be applied to hanging most galleries. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The frames were easy to work with. I made sure the plexiglass was free from dust after removing the protective film and was careful not to touch it at all. Because these particular frames hang from a single hook, I added <a href="https://rstyle.me/+siEpUzPGoFbTDMJz9zcFIg">rubber pads</a> to the bottom corners of each frame. I’ve found this extra step keeps the frames from slipping out of square once they’re hanging on the wall. I’ve used this trick a lot throughout our home. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-11 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex">
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" data-id="9746" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/img_9313.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-9746"/></figure>

</figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Overall, the project cost about $170 and I&#8217;m more than happy with that! A piece of wall art that is personal, impactful and affordable is what I was after. <p class="wp-block-paragraph">Ever since I was pregnant with Daisy I knew the room we were using for her nursery would one day be a tv room. “One day” is finally today! </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/img_5439.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-9691"/></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It’s a very small room, so were prepared to use a bit of creativity to pull it together and maximize its functionality. We are thrilled with the way it turned out. I’m sharing all the diy details, photos and links below. It is, without a doubt, everyone’s new favorite spot to hang out!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">We started by changing the wall color. I wanted something dark and cozy. We went with an old favorite… “Iron Ore” by Sherwin Williams; and because it is such a small room, painting was quick and easy! We also did a bit of touching up on the moulding and caulked a few cracks to make the space look fresh and crisp! </p>

<figure class="wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-12 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex">
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" data-id="9688" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/img_8818.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-9688"/></figure>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" data-id="9689" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/img_8834.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-9689"/></figure>
</figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Next, we hung the TVs, yes TVs with an &#8220;S&#8221;&#8230;. two TVs! It makes sense for us because the girls (3 and 6) often want to watch a movie while Clark (10) wants to play Xbox or watch something different. The type of TVs we chose have an aux jack for headphones, so usually one of the kids wears headphones to keep the noise from the other TV out. So far, it’s worked out great!</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/img_8822.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-9687"/></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">We dropped new wire in the wall from the attic and used recessed outlets to ensure the TVs would hang flush against the wall. The universal brackets we used from Target were easy to install and worked well with the TVs we bought. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/img_8827.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-9685"/></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Once those were hung, we added a fun neon-look LED light above the “gaming” TV. The kids thought this was so cool! To conceal the wire, we cut a small square in the Sheetrock behind the light itself, and dropped the cord down to the new outlet behind the TV below. We used a special outlet box that easily accommodates unusually shaped and various sized wires. To make things nice and tidy, I finished this gaming area off by hot gluing the neon light-switch to the back of the TV for convenience. I’m so pleased with how great this spot turned out! </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/img_8835.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-9686"/></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As far as TV room furniture, we kept it super simple by choosing bean bags that convert to full size beds! They’re incredible! We ordered them from Amazon, and they’re made by a company named Cordaroy’s. During the week we keep them zipped up in bean bags because they’re perfectly compact for TV watching on school afternoons. On the weekends, we unzip and lay them out to create the perfect pallets! All three kids love having weekend slumber parties all piled in the new room together! </p>

<figure class="wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-13 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex">
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" data-id="9701" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/img_9341.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-9701"/></figure>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" data-id="9684" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/img_8985.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-9684"/></figure>
</figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">We kept an old coffee table in the space for playing games, puzzles and coloring. The warm wood tone of this table is beautiful and was what inspired the curtain color I chose… camel! Velvet camel-colored curtains! </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I asked on Instagram for guesses on the curtain color, not one person guessed correctly! I’ve always been a sucker for “gun metal gray” and “cognac leather” together. The finished TV room gives me all the right vibes! </p>

<figure class="wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-14 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex">
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" data-id="9700" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/img_9344.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-9700"/></figure>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" data-id="9699" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/img_9342.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-9699"/></figure>

</figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The very last thing to be installed on the last weekend in January, was the wall art! I’m so proud of how these turned out!!! They were insanely easy to do, relatively inexpensive and add a warm, family-friendly feeling to the new room. Of all the changes and improvements we made to this space, my favorite has to be these framed photos of the kids! I&#8217;ll share all the details to create this photo poster gallery in a future post if you’re wanting to get the same look in your home. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-15 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex">
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" data-id="9698" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/img_9340.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-9698"/></figure>
</figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I’m sure you’ve guessed by now that this room will get plenty of use for years to come! Not only is it cozy and amazing, but it is the first room that’s completely made-over and “new” in our “12 rooms in 12 months” project challenge! </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Give me all the bath bombs, bath salts, fizzies&#8230; whatever, I’ll take them! I’ve been loving taking baths in the evenings in my big soaker tub. I’m grateful I’m finally in the stage of life where I no longer have to share my space with baskets of bath toys and stinky kids! Can I get an Amen?! </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Along with my new favorite hobby of bath-soaking, came an appreciation for beautiful ways to make it more enjoyable and relaxing. Bath bombs are a great way to make your bath a luxurious spa-like experience. Once I started shopping for them, I ran into two problems&#8230; most bath bombs are FULL of artificial colors and fragrance&#8230; and two, they’re expensive! </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">So, you know what came next&#8230; I decided to make them myself! Once I read and researched a bit, I found that they’re not complicated and can be made very inexpensively! </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Over the last couple of months, I’ve made a few batches, and am finally confident in sharing my recipe after lots of fails, and many tweaks here and there. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="577" height="1024" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/img_1909.jpg?resize=577%2C1024&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-9213" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/img_1909.jpg?resize=577%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 577w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/img_1909.jpg?resize=169%2C300&amp;ssl=1 169w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/img_1909.jpg?resize=768%2C1363&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/img_1909.jpg?resize=866%2C1536&amp;ssl=1 866w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/img_1909.jpg?w=1027&amp;ssl=1 1027w" sizes="(max-width: 577px) 100vw, 577px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Photos of beautiful orchid bowls have been popping up lately and I knew I wanted to create one this year as part of my spring/summer decor. Originally I thought I would just buy some live orchids and repot them to fit into my metal bowl as a centerpiece. Once I started researching, I learned that orchids are not the easiest to care for, and can’t receive too much light… Which is a problem in our house! We have windows everywhere and I knew it would be easier to just go with realistic looking stems. To my surprise, it came together very easily and cost less than $50! </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Here are the steps I took:</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Lastly, (optional) add trim around the top edge securing with screws on stud points around the bed. (*We plan to do this to our beds before we add dirt. Once we do, I’ll add finished photos!)</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">You’re done! Make as many as you need and enjoy your raised bed garden! We built three and it took us just over an hour! </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you use this plan be sure to send me a picture of your completed project or tag <a href="http://instagram.com/bloomco.interiors">@bloomco.interiors</a> so I can see your work! </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The best part about a project like this is that it doesn’t have to be perfect to be perfectly useful! Happy building! </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Being a Louisiana girl, king cake season is on the top of my list of favorite times of the year. There are plenty of bakeries that have their own version of “the best king cake in town”, but homemade is always best! </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Making a king cake from scratch shouldn’t intimidate you, it’s much easier than you may think! It’s basically a giant cinnamon roll dressed up for Mardi Gras! </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Here’s my recipe, have fun with it, it won’t be perfect and may not look neat, but it’ll taste delicious, I promise! </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/img_7450.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-8984"/></figure>

<h5 class="wp-block-heading" id="dough">Dough:</h5>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>1 (8oz) container sour cream</li><li>3 TBSP sugar</li><li>2 TBSP unsalted butter</li><li>1/2 tsp salt</li><li>1 (¼ oz) envelope active dry yeast</li><li>1/4 C warm water (100° to 110°F)</li><li>1 large egg (lightly beaten)</li><li>3 to 3 1/2 C bread flour </li></ul>

<h5 class="wp-block-heading" id="cinnamon-sugar-filling">Cinnamon/Sugar Filling:</h5>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>⅓ cup unsalted butter (softened)</li><li>½ cup granulated sugar</li><li>3 TBSP ground cinnamon </li></ul>

<h5 class="wp-block-heading" id="glaze">Glaze:</h5>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>1 C powdered sugar</li><li>1 TBSP butter or cream cheese, softened</li><li>1 TBSP milk</li><li>1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice</li><li>¼ tsp vanilla extract</li><li>Purple, green and gold sprinkles</li></ul>

<ol class="wp-block-list"><li>For the dough, add the sour cream, butter, sugar, and salt in a medium saucepan over low heat, stirring often, until the butter is melted. Remove from the heat &amp; cool down the mixture to 100° to 110°F</li><li>In a glass measuring cup or small bowl, stir together yeast and 1/4 cup warm water, and let stand for 5 minutes. The yeast should become foamy and be ‘activated’ after that time.</li><li>In the bowl of a stand mixer with a dough hook attachment, add the sour cream mixture, yeast mixture, eggs and 1 cup of flour. Give a quick stir with a spatula and then turn the mixer on medium speed. As the ingredients start to come together, reduce speed to low, and gradually add the remaining flour until a soft dough forms.</li><li>Once the dough forms, lower the speed setting and allow the dough to knead until smooth and elastic (this can take up to 10 minutes).</li><li>Place in a lightly greased bowl and cover with a linen cloth or plastic wrap. Let rise in a warm place (85° is ideal) for 1 hour or until the dough has doubled in size.</li><li>While dough is proofing, make the cinnamon/sugar filling. Mix the ingredients together in a small bowl.</li><li>After the dough is finished proofing, divide the dough in half.</li><li>Roll each portion into a long rectangle using a rolling pin. Spread 1/2 the cinnamon/sugar butter evenly on each rectangle. </li><li>Fold each dough rectangle in half long ways, and add the remaining cinnamon/sugar butter. </li><li>Roll the dough rectangles up long ways. </li><li>Place the dough rolls parallel to one another, pinch the tops together, and twist the dough rolls over each other to give a braided look. Bring the other ends around together to form a ring, ensuring to make a good seal at the seam.</li><li>Cover and let rise in a warm place again, 20 to 30 minutes or until doubled in size.</li><li>Preheat the oven to 350°F.</li><li>Bake for 25 to 35 minutes or until golden.</li><li>If the outside is golden, but the inside is still gooey, lightly cover with foil and bake in 5 minute intervals, checking carefully in between until cooked through. </li><li>After the cake is done baking, allow to cool most of the way.</li><li>Meanwhile, in a large bowl mix the glaze ingredients until smooth &amp; creamy.</li><li>Pour glaze evenly over warm cake; sprinkle with colored sugars, and alternate colors. </li><li>Let cool completely &amp; serve.</li></ol>
