<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Most of my project ideas come to me when I&#8217;m cleaning and straightening up. I think spending time in my space always shows me what it&#8217;s missing. In this case, our kitchen was begging for a memory pin board to display all the things that have been piling up. I don&#8217;t keep everything that the kids make, trust me, but anything that has their prints, is original art (not a color sheet) or obviously took lots of effort, gets put in a box in my office. I have a small display-shutter in the laundry room, but the older the kids get, the more interesting their work is, and I wanted to share it with any and every one that visits. </p>

<blockquote class="wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow"><p><em>Like any small business, Bloom Co. earns money when you shop here. Using my affiliate links adds no cost to you. Thank you for your support!</em></p><cite><em>Jamie Gremillion, Bloom Co.</em></cite></blockquote>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The idea for a pin board was literally born in my head, and I talked it out with Adam. He thought a piece of <a href="https://rstyle.me/+nKSIJieQyt0rLYMaz0vI7w">foam board</a> from the hardware store would work, and he was right! We wanted it to be dramatic and eye-catching, so we went with a 2&#8243; thick sheet. <strong>(Step 1)</strong> We cut a <a href="https://rstyle.me/+nKSIJieQyt0rLYMaz0vI7w">4&#8217;x8&#8242; foamboard</a> down to 32&#8243;x6&#8242; with an <a href="https://rstyle.me/+j8A2tSpJYHCisevei1x94A">adjustable razor knife</a>. It was the perfect scale for our space. I loved the idea of it being sort of &#8220;larger than life&#8221; and not just another &#8220;something&#8221; on the wall. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex">
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" data-id="10332" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4012.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-10332"/></figure>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" data-id="10334" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4011.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-10334"/></figure>
</figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Once we got started, the process was super easy and took less than an hour, start to finish! After the foam was cut, (I recommend doing it outside, foam gets messy!) I started to cover it with the <a href="https://rstyle.me/+gPkvzGd1FY3rW8LCsvJk3g">duck canvas</a> I chose as the fabric. <a href="https://rstyle.me/+i0ZMYiAdQT0pXBFBi3bwJg">Pinking shears</a> work great to keep the raw edges from fraying. I used <a href="https://rstyle.me/+gPkvzGd1FY3rW8LCsvJk3g">white canvas</a> to give a monochromatic look with my walls, but you can choose any color you like. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">There will likely be deep creases in your fabric, <strong>(Step 2)</strong> so I recommend <a href="https://rstyle.me/+dpsQ1vdwV978Umfx39ZlTQ">steaming</a> it first, before wrapping your foam. I didn&#8217;t do that and was stuck trying to gently steam the wrinkles out without melting the foamboard, it would&#8217;ve been easier to do it ahead. Also, don&#8217;t skip this step! Promise? You&#8217;ll be tempted to, thinking your fabric will pull tight enough, but you&#8217;ll still see the wrinkles and it will look less chic, and more diy, which we don&#8217;t want. Trust me.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-2 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex">
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="1170" height="2532" data-id="10329" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4039.jpg?resize=1170%2C2532&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-10329" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4039.jpg?w=1170&amp;ssl=1 1170w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4039.jpg?resize=139%2C300&amp;ssl=1 139w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4039.jpg?resize=473%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 473w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4039.jpg?resize=768%2C1662&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4039.jpg?resize=710%2C1536&amp;ssl=1 710w" sizes="(max-width: 1170px) 100vw, 1170px" /></figure>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" width="1170" height="2058" data-id="10327" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4041.jpg?resize=1170%2C2058&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-10327" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4041.jpg?w=1170&amp;ssl=1 1170w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4041.jpg?resize=171%2C300&amp;ssl=1 171w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4041.jpg?resize=582%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 582w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4041.jpg?resize=768%2C1351&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4041.jpg?resize=873%2C1536&amp;ssl=1 873w" sizes="(max-width: 1170px) 100vw, 1170px" /></figure>
</figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>(Step 3)</strong> Once the<a href="https://rstyle.me/+gPkvzGd1FY3rW8LCsvJk3g"> duck canvas</a> is smooth, I wrapped the foam with it and secured it using my <a href="https://rstyle.me/+t_VEeQEJmHNVQBIaQpyitA">glue gun and hot glue</a> on the back edge. The hot glue does compromise the foam and melts it a little, but still holds the fabric really well. You can add some <a href="https://rstyle.me/+1tokji53aLddMAsylqJwUg">regular thumb tacks</a> along the back if you want to be sure the fabric is secure. <strong>(Step 4)</strong> Neatly fold the corners like a package and hot glue them down. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" width="1165" height="2043" data-id="10331" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4040.jpg?resize=1165%2C2043&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-10331" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4040.jpg?w=1165&amp;ssl=1 1165w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4040.jpg?resize=171%2C300&amp;ssl=1 171w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4040.jpg?resize=584%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 584w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4040.jpg?resize=768%2C1347&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4040.jpg?resize=876%2C1536&amp;ssl=1 876w" sizes="(max-width: 1165px) 100vw, 1165px" /></figure>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" data-id="10333" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4024.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-10333"/></figure>
</figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>(Step 5) </strong>Mark off where you&#8217;ll put each <a href="https://rstyle.me/+5wOjobKzP4_oIUxqVEwYeg">decorative thumbtack</a> on the edges using a light pencil mark. I placed mine 6&#8243; apart which worked well with a 6-foot board. Gently insert tacks keeping them centered in the middle of the 2&#8243; end. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/img_4037.jpg?w=1290&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-10336"/></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>(Step 6)</strong> Now comes the fun part! Dig out all those beautiful keepsakes and artwork pieces you&#8217;ve been holding onto and start pinning. I used <a href="https://rstyle.me/+og6VTaZH7vjn9G4JRnvBUw">simple wood tacks</a> to keep them secure. The warmth this project has added to our kitchen is amazing! We plan to use it mostly to display current treasures, but I also have a few other ideas too!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">At our house&#8230; WE LOVE FALL! I’m not sure what it is about October, it just makes us feel different. Maybe the anticipation of the holidays, maybe it’s the pumpkin patches popping up around town, the talk of Halloween costumes, or the tiny whisper of lower humidity in the morning and evening (South Louisiana probs). I know for the boys (my husband Adam &amp; son Clark) it’s the start of deer season and all things camo! Whatever it is&#8230; we love it! </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1290" height="1720" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_2031.jpg?resize=1290%2C1720&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-113" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_2031.jpg?w=3024&amp;ssl=1 3024w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_2031.jpg?resize=225%2C300&amp;ssl=1 225w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_2031.jpg?resize=768%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_2031.jpg?resize=1140%2C1520&amp;ssl=1 1140w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_2031.jpg?resize=600%2C800&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_2031.jpg?w=2580&amp;ssl=1 2580w" sizes="(max-width: 1290px) 100vw, 1290px" /></figure>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1290" height="1346" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_2147-1.jpg?resize=1290%2C1346&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-112" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_2147-1.jpg?w=2320&amp;ssl=1 2320w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_2147-1.jpg?resize=287%2C300&amp;ssl=1 287w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_2147-1.jpg?resize=768%2C801&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_2147-1.jpg?resize=981%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 981w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_2147-1.jpg?resize=1140%2C1190&amp;ssl=1 1140w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_2147-1.jpg?resize=600%2C626&amp;ssl=1 600w" sizes="(max-width: 1290px) 100vw, 1290px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Just as in any season, I like to make some small, subtle decor changes to our home. Over-the-top seasonal decorations aren’t practical for us for a lot of reasons&#8230; time, energy, budget&#8230; we don’t have an abundance of any of those! So I keep it simple! </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I’m going to share with you 3 simple fall decorating ideas that you can easily incorporate today! Most of these apply to all seasons, but I’ll share our fall ideas for now! </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>1. Display fall themed kid’s art! </strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I keep all of my kid’s artwork with the decorations for that season. So for example, all of this artwork was stored in a 2-gallon ziploc bag, in the storage tote with my fall decor. That way, I won’t forget about it when it comes time to put it out. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I used twine and clothes pins, found a spot in our sitting room that made sense, and voila! It is so special for the kiddos to see their work on display, plus it adds a ton of color and is a conversation piece when people visit. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>2. Plush decor that is ok to touch!</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1290" height="968" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_6204.jpg?resize=1290%2C968&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-108" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_6204.jpg?w=4032&amp;ssl=1 4032w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_6204.jpg?resize=300%2C225&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_6204.jpg?resize=768%2C576&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_6204.jpg?resize=1024%2C768&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_6204.jpg?resize=1140%2C855&amp;ssl=1 1140w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_6204.jpg?resize=600%2C450&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_6204.jpg?w=2580&amp;ssl=1 2580w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_6204.jpg?w=3870&amp;ssl=1 3870w" sizes="(max-width: 1290px) 100vw, 1290px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I try to incorporate “playable” decor for each season (I’ll share each holiday idea throughout the year). For fall I put these plush pumpkins on our main coffee table. My girls absolutely love playing with them. Penelope (4) lines them up and feeds them to her ponies, while Daisy (1) throws them and fetches them herself&#8230; over and over! They know they are there to play with and it encourages them to use their imaginations. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1290" height="1720" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_6208.jpg?resize=1290%2C1720&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-110" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_6208.jpg?w=3024&amp;ssl=1 3024w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_6208.jpg?resize=225%2C300&amp;ssl=1 225w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_6208.jpg?resize=768%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_6208.jpg?resize=1140%2C1520&amp;ssl=1 1140w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_6208.jpg?resize=600%2C800&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_6208.jpg?w=2580&amp;ssl=1 2580w" sizes="(max-width: 1290px) 100vw, 1290px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Having “playable” decor is essential to a home that everyone enjoys. It gives the kids freedom, keeps you (mom) from having to move things out of reach and/or fussing and saying “no, don’t touch that&#8230; that’s not a toy”! With plush decor it IS a toy, but looks fabulous too! I found the large pumpkin at Homegoods last year and the small ones in the dollar section at Target! </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>3. “Thankful” craft! </strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Every year we try to create something with the kiddos to provoke a “thankful” mindset going into the holiday season. A few years ago we created <a href="http://pinterest.com/bloomcreativeco">this</a> on a live pumpkin. If we do this again, I would do it on a faux pumpkin. I have found I like to keep our project from year to year to reflect back on what we were thankful for. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="800" height="600" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_6199.jpg?resize=800%2C600&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-114" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_6199.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_6199.jpg?resize=300%2C225&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_6199.jpg?resize=768%2C576&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_6199.jpg?resize=600%2C450&amp;ssl=1 600w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Last year, we weren’t very imaginative. We had a new baby, and we did what worked! I bought this as a kit in the dollar section at Target and it turned out adorable! I displayed it all season last year and have it out this year too! </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1290" height="1721" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_6202.jpg?resize=1290%2C1721&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-99" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_6202.jpg?w=2291&amp;ssl=1 2291w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_6202.jpg?resize=225%2C300&amp;ssl=1 225w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_6202.jpg?resize=768%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_6202.jpg?resize=1140%2C1521&amp;ssl=1 1140w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_6202.jpg?resize=600%2C800&amp;ssl=1 600w" sizes="(max-width: 1290px) 100vw, 1290px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This fall, we are going to make our own tree! I got this idea from <a href="https://www.createfullife.com/the-thankful-tree/">simply vintage girl</a> and can’t wait to try it. I have it pinned on Pinterest too. Go follow <a href="http://pinterest.com/mybloomcreative">Bloomcreativeco</a> on Pinterest for this and lots of other ideas I’m dying to try! </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="435" height="650" src="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_6203.jpg?resize=435%2C650&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-100" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_6203.jpg?w=435&amp;ssl=1 435w, https://i0.wp.com/shebloomscreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/img_6203.jpg?resize=201%2C300&amp;ssl=1 201w" sizes="(max-width: 435px) 100vw, 435px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">For this look you’ll need:                        </p>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>branches</li><li>vase</li><li>fall scrapbook paper</li><li>1 1/2&#8243; &#8211; 2 1/2&#8243; hole punch</li><li>standard hole punch</li><li>thin ribbon or twine</li><li>scissors</li><li>ribbon for vase</li></ul>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This seems pretty simple! I’ll blog about ours once we get to it! I usually start our “thankful” project November 1st! </p>
